Great Speeches and Great Humor of the Greatest Generation

When working on this website, I realized that Charlie Jarvis and “Dr. Mc” were standard bearers for two fundamental moral imperatives. One to remind us to appreciate the bonds of family and spouse and to look at everything with a sense of humor. The other to remind us of the needs of maintaining a strong country with a true American identity. All of which are under seige today.

Dr. Jarvis was the inspiration of ON HUMOR , a website dedicated to the study of humor in public speaking as well as a place for people to find his great talks. “Prescription for the Happy Life”, “Open Wide Please – and Laugh!”, “This Won’t Hurt, Much” and “Things are more like they are now than they have ever been” are talks that speak to us today as human beings trying to get along with our fellow man. “I’m not here to make you laugh, I’m here to make you think” was Dr. Jarvis’s admonition pointing to a fundamental requirement of good citizenship. Listen to his audience’s laughter. Hearty, healthy laughter from great, clean humor and wit delivered with skill. And every word still applies.

If you’ve not heard Dr. Jarvis talk, I urge you to visit his website at www.drcharlesjarvis.com .

Enjoy their lessons together for a perfect combination of just plain common sense and life changing thought.
